Welcome to Our World, Baby Chick!

On April 10th, 2011 Mrs. Meyers received an egg from Carriage House Farms in Stevenson, MD.  Today, May 5th, 2011, the egg hatched, revealing a beautiful baby chick. We were all very excited.  It started hatching at around twelve pm, during a seventh grade science class. No one could focus and we didn’t get very much work done because we were waiting for it to hatch. Two hours later, at one pm, the chick finally finished hatching. Everyone was crowded around the table, wanting to catch a glimpse. Kara F., Erica D., and I caught the entire hatching on a Flip camera and my iPhone 4. Take a look!

    The baby chick is really cute. I got to see it hatch! It's so tiny and delicate. Possible name: Nellie or Fluffy

    I saw parts of the chick hatching, and it was so cool to see it all happen! A lot of people were saying eww its ugly when it was first born, but since I have raised chickens for many years now, I can say that as soon as it dries off (it was wet when it hatched) the feathers will fluff up and it will be a cute baby chick!

    I got to watch him hatch!! he/she is so so cute!! Jessie or I will bring him home (says Mrs. Meyers), we haven't decided who yet. We want to name him/her Don Pablo or Felicia-barns!!

    What a cute baby chick! I believe you should name it something that has to do with Mexico for Cinco de Mayo. Long Live the baby chick!
